Award-winning pianist/composer Howard Cowles has succeeded in creating a deeply personal and emotionally evocative work with "A Mother's Garden." Having played the piano for over four decades, Howard found himself in his mother's home shortly after her passing, and sitting alone at her magnificent Mason Hamlin grand piano, he wrote nearly all of the music on this album. The album was also recorded using the same piano on most of the tracks and there is a beauty and intensity in the compositions that is unmistakeable. There are times of reflective remembrance, of exquisite happiness, of deep sadness and touching melancholy. The music reflects the thoughts that span a lifetime of relationship with those that we love. It all adds up to a beautiful document of human experience, and is a true masterwork from an artist who has graced the stage at such illustrious music halls as California's famed Richard & Karen Carpenter Center and others. Howard also regularly is invited to perform at the performance center at the Nixon Presidential Library. This album includes production assistance from Tim Heintz (Madonna, Lee Ann Rimes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, et al) and is a powerful artistic statement from an artist/composer whose work is awash with the kind of melody and phrasing that few pianists of his generation have mastered.

Absolutely outstanding. Not only can you use it in your productions, but it also makes for great music playing in the background while you work. Fantastic!

When Howard first presented this set of songs to us, we were so impressed by it that my wife and I agreed that it was time to start a record label. The playing is beautiful and the music is simply some of the finest I have heard in this genre. I may be prejudiced but in test marketing this, we found only a couple of people that didn't say they would buy it. We are very proud that it's our first release for this new addition to Creative Cow.
